So, yes, the waffles are good. I mean, come on, bacon stuffed waffles, how can you go wrong with that? The problem, though, is the price. Almost $6 for a single waffle? I’m fairly certain you could do something similar at home for half the price.
As for the interiors? I suppose they’re… organic, though in this case that’s just a very nice way of saying the smoking ban must have taken its toll on Waffels Plus’ regulars.
Maybe the “plus” is an indicator of the price point…

In my opinion they have the best waffles in town. Nice and big sized. The batter must be a secret because it is sweet yet not too sweet to add syrup. A side of one waffle is $5.95, but well worth it.
The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired, but the staff and service is good. In and out in 15 minutes if you want. The eggs are not heavy and caked, rather fluffy and plenty in portion. They have pretty good crepes and other specials.

Breakfast? yeah, it’s OK. Eggs over easy, some kinda meat, hash browns, sure. But this is a neighborhood joint, and the regulars rule. If you ain’t a regular, you’re likely irregular. That undercurrent of “who the %^$* are you and whadda ya doin’ here” was tolerable in my 20’s, now I’m 50 it sucks. Yeah, I remember when this place was a taco time.
And yeah, 8 bucks for coffee and eggs is too much money.
Nothing about this place is toxic. Nothing about this place is special. Over the top is either up or down the street.

Other than their short hours (I like to sleep in on the weekends), I love Waffles Plus. The secret is not to order just a waffle—order something that comes WITH a waffle. It is almost the same price as just a waffle. I love the hot potato omelet with a waffle with raspberry syrup. It is more like runny jam but doesn’t make your nice, crispy waffle go soggy. Much better than IHOP or Dennys.
