No :-( Remi's review (Jan 16th 2007)

I might be committing harakiri by review here and I am OK with that.

Jack & Dan’s has become somewhat of a Spokane institution with its connection to Gonzaga and John Stockton, and it has even been named one of the best sports bar in the country by Sports Illustrated. Personally I don’t really see what all the fuss is about. Sure, it’s probably a nice place to enjoy some Zags action with a PBR or Bud Light, but to sit down for a meal? I would go elsewhere.

During my last visit to Jack & Dan’s I tried the “Zagger” which was described both as four mini-burgers and one of the highlights of the menu. Now first thing first, there was absolutely nothing “mini” about these burgers. Getting more than promised might sound like a good thing, but really, I wasn’t that hungry and the whole thing just seemed like a waste to me. Could I have taken the leftovers home? Sure, but what’s the point when the food is virtually flavorless? I don’t expect miracles from a burger or anything, but is it really too much to ask for something more than four patties of plain ground beef? Some pepper and salt would have gone a long way, and I am sure there were other spices which also could have livened up the party a bit.

This actually seems to be a pattern at Jack & Dan’s. A chicken wrap I had previously tried suffered from the same blandness as the burger, and I can’t help but wonder if they prepare the food to go with an equally “eh” beer selection.

There are plenty of bars around town where you can get good food and watch the Zags play basketball. Don’t be fooled by Jack & Dan’s close connection to the university and team if you are interested in anything outside of a place to watch a game.

Yes :-) Cassidy's review (Jan 22nd 2007)

Pretty much my husband’s take on it, is anything, and I mean ANYTHING in relation to the Utah Jazz and/or John Stockton is gold.

And I agree somewhat. The food, well, it’s a tad barish and that’s what I would expect from a bar. However, the drinks are great and the stuff hanging up around for the Stockton/Jazz fans are worth it. Please go.

No :-( gonzlaw's review (Oct 16th 2008)

Remi is right. I tried the Zaggers before I read this review. Holy god, I have never had a need to salt and pepper a burger from any restaurant before. It was like eating cardboard… in fact, I couldn’t figure out why the fuck I was eating it.
