Opa and Taste Everything Once has had a rocky relationship. The previous owners of the eatery ballot stuffed the user reviews with glowing recommendations, while the actual customers lambasted the food.
With new owners I decided to give the place a shot and see if they bear the sins of the father.
Long story short: No, no they don’t. Opa is not bad at all.
I shared a couple of appetizer plates with my dining companion, to get a good sample of Opa’s offerings. The gyro lamb was nicely seasoned, and the sampling of cheeses went well with it. The feta definitely had a nice fresh flavor to it. In fact, overall, everything was better than passable. Not mindblowing, but good.
The service, too, was just fine. Quick, friendly, and not too “in your face.”
I don’t think I will make many trips north as I prefer Santorini’s downtown. Had I lived closer to Northpointe, though, I would probably visit Opa on more than one occasion.
Me and my boyfriend went here after seeing a commercial for it on tv. The food was really good and they gave big portions. However the decorating was very tacky and, if they have a “to go” option take it.
Great food, lovely service and a relaxing atmosphere combine to create a fantastic restaurant. Five stars!
The place is great! Gyro’s are a little overpriced, but are absolutely awesome! Pizza is amazing as well!
I frequently get takeout from here. Not the best greek I have ever had but not bad. Service is great! The one server who I always get really makes the restraunt. I like the entrees better than the pizza.
Just visited Opa last night with my brother and sister for one last hurrah before we part ways for a year in two weeks time. And what a hurrah it was. We went all out and were able to try many of their offerings. The meza platter we shared for an appetizer, and the gyro meat was to die for. I don’t want to misspell the Italian and Greek names for the dishes we had, so I will describe them instead.
My sister had a chicken pasta (Chicken Kota, I think) with a light red sauce and a lemony flavor. It was quite good. My brother and I each had the lamb and chicken skewers (Souvlaki?) on rice with Greek salad. This is definitely what I would come back for. Large pieces of succulent meat and vegetables with just the right amount of seasoning. I also tried the traditional Greek lemon, chicken and rice soup, which was to die for.
For dessert we had baklava and pita with cinnamon and sugar, and Greek coffee. All were delicious, though I am not a huge dessert fan.
On a side note, we bought the large Rustica pizza to go for our parents, which was good, but perhaps a bit overpriced. Other than the pizza, most menu options are very reasonable.
The food was delicious, but what really made this special was the service. The young man that we had waiting on us was hands down the best waiter I have ever had. With a great sense of humor and an intimate knowledge of the restaurant’s fare, he was absolutely a delight. I hope that you will have the opportunity to go and experience this passion for service that is so rare these days.
Definitely worth a visit.
Our experience at Opa ranked well among our dining experiences in Spokane. Our server was was pleasant, efficient and very attentive. We had the Meze appetizer, mousaka, chicken Santorini, two cups cauliflower soup, Baklava and Tiramisu. The starter was very good and provided a terrific sampling of the variety of flavors offered with Greek cuisine. Both the mousaka and chicken were good, although I’ve had better mousaka that was richer, creamier and more forcefully spiced. The mousaka came with Greek salad, which was traditional and flavorful. A real plus. The chicken was a unique dish that provided a carefully crafted blend of flavors. Kudos!! Dinner was accompanied by a nice and affordable bottle of Greek wine. On the negative side, the soup was too thin and uninspired, and the desserts were both misses. The Baklava was not the perfect blend of flavors that we know it can be and Tiramisu was out of a box from the frozen food section. In total, our review might sound worse than it’s meant to be. We had a delightful dinner and will be happy to return for another sampling of the ethnic offerings at Opa. The pizza looks great. Think we give that a try next time.
