There’s really not a whole lot to say about Two Seven Public House if you already are familiar with The Elk and its ilk; this is more of the same, just in a different location. And really, there’s nothing wrong about that.
As is the case with the other family members in this little pub empire, Two Seven has one or two menu items unique to itself. I tried the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which easily lived up the standards set by the classic Moon Burger and Chicken Cesar Soft Taco. The buffalo sauce might not kick your teeth in, but it certainly has a decent flavor, and it goes well with the blue cheese dressing and slaw.
Bonus points for having a chicken breast that actually tastes like chicken. Way too many places these days seem to follow the KFC method of serving something that tastes more like imitation chicken which is not awesome.
Two Seven Public House, however, is just that. Awesome.

As big fans of the Elk, my husband and I ventured to the 2-7 a couple weeks ago. We checked out their menu online beforehand, and he was drooling over the Linguine Con Vongole (clam linguine). I had the Tacos de Pescado (fish tacos). We kept stealing bites of each others’ like vultures, so that tells you how fantastic they were. Neither of these are available at the Elk, near as I can tell. The 2-7 was good, but honestly we prefer the ambience of the Elk, plus its location in Browne’s Addition. Offer the clam linguine and fish tacos there, and we’d be there waaaaay too often. hic

Great food. Friendly staff. Tables imported from London. My only problem with the bar is that it’s too loud. It is the same problem that I have with the Elk.

The waiter/bartender actually forgot to put my order in… too busy socializing. It was not busy, perhaps 10 people (that’s people not tables) Probably bot going back for more than a beer, maybe.

Great food. I have been there a few times. Wonderful service and, once again, great food.

My wife and I went there on July 5th.I ordered garlic & cheese raviolis and my wife the 74th gumbo over rice. The ravioli was great, the gumbo did not come over rice as it stated on the menu. I also saw another customer order the same dish and his did not have rice either. That night the service was excellent, was not all that busy but we thought there should have been rice with the gumbo. I went up on July 7th to ask about the gumbo not being over rice as the menu advertised and was told by an employee and he said if you want it over rice and did not get it, all you had to do is ask. That is a profound statement by this server. So if anything that is not served on their menu as advertised, all you have to do is the job that the employees/managers/servers/owners should be doing is tell them what is on their menu.

We first ate there on a Tuesday and had to go back on the next Friday. The caesar salad is wonderful. The clam vongole is always good and the lamb sandwich is extraordinary. The service has been great each time we’ve been in, probably 6 or 7 times now. We usually go at lunch, but we have had dinner once or twice. Oh, and the garlic onion bread is yummy, too.
