The Melting Pot is THE new place to be in Spokane! From the trendy decor to the well-dressed and friendly-without-being-obnoxious staff, the Melting Pot couldn’t have been less Spokaney. Which is a good thing if you’re sick of diners being considered fine dining.

They have an option called ‘the big night out’ where you basically just pick a category and then all four courses are included and sort of decided for you. I would recommend NOT doing this option and rather ordering off the menu as you wish. We got the cheddar for our cheese fondue, which was fantastic. I had the California salad, which was mediocre—but my mom’s caesar salad was fantastic. My mom had the seafood entree and I had the vegetarian (a big reason we didn’t do the big night out is because there was a lot of it neither of us wanted in our entree). I would recommend skipping the entree part, as it wasn’t very much fun having to wait for food to cook, and hard to get it just right. Plus, I was pretty stuffed after cheese and a salad. But if you want the whole experience get an entree; just keep in mind there isn’t a leftovers option so if you don’t eat it all it goes to waste.

Last was the chocolate fondue, which was absolutely fantastic. We had the milk chocolate/peanut butter, which was to die for. I could have eaten more but we ran out of mix-ins; our waitress never told us we could ask for more (but a friend who’s been to other locations said they’ll bring you more as long as you have chocolate left). Which will be good to know next time.

I just hope the out-of-the-way locale doesn’t make them go under. They do have being part of a chain on their side.

If you’re wondering, it’s on the 2nd floor of the Crescent Court, right by the elevators. Another thing that makes this place so great is that you can make reservations online. And they have cozy, semi-private booths for couples, and will even put flower arrangements or balloons on your table if you request it.

You know – it was just OK. Very spendy for what you get. The cheese fondue & the dessert fondue were very good, but the main course just OK. Next time we’ll just get the cheese & dessert – but I don’t feel like I need to hurry back. For a dinner with entertainment, I’d choose Shogun over this. It didn’t seem to be that busy, so I wonder if others feel like me – a fine place to go once, but not excellent enough to go back…....

Some who’ve not tried this chain restaurant while traveling abroad may find it fun and interesting for one or two trips.

My opinion however is that it is overrated and extremely overpriced for the pleasure of dipping basic raw ingredients in oil cheese or chocolate sauce. Hardly a culinary experience.

I can’t believe how much money we are willing to pay to go to a restaurant and cook our own food….. Silly… They don’t even need to hire a chef!

Horrible. The served dried up carrots and dried up cheese for the fondue, as well as stale bread. Overpriced. The dessert is awesome but you should just make your own melting pot at home. I will say the bathrooms are great and it is nice to have another empty downtown space filled.

We went here right when it opened. While it is pricey, I thought it was really fun and good. I agree that it is almost too much food with the cheese, entree and desert. However, we ate as much as we could and waddled home satisfied. :)

It would be better if it was cheaper though. But I am still going back there this weekend! If it goes bad, I’ll add another review.
