while this may be a northside institution, i really don’t know why. lukewarm food and poor service seem to be the norm. When i asked for steamed rice i was presented with fried, when i managed to flag down our waitstaff, i was told that i had not asked for steamed. How odd… Here’s hoping that they get their hearing aid batteries replaced soon.

The inside seemed inviting but the food, particularly the fried rice, had way too much salt. The waiting time was also a bit too long to wait for such a restaurant. This is suppose to be the best Chinese place in town? I don’t think so!

This place will always disappoint you. I hate the atmosphere. It feels sticky and humid—perhaps its because of all of the fish tanks. It puts me in the mind of eating at a Howard Johnsons—only the food isn’t as good. They have THE MOST DISGUSTING sauces that they try to pass off as “Chinese Food” when in reality it tastes like ketchup with some spices. Their crab rangoon is good, but that’s the only thing that is good. Their Generals chicken is nasty. Everything I’ve ever had there has always disappointed me. Each time I get the bill I really feel annoyed that I have to pay for the slop I’ve just eaten. I have a friend that LOVES this place. I think she needs to get her tastebuds checked. I’d rather eat at Top O China (which I loathe and detest buffets or the Chinese place in the mall.) There really is no saving grace to this place. The service is terrible. The food is always lukewarm and dry. The drinks are weak. All in all, avoid this place. Go to Chan’s!!
