D. Lish’s slogan is “Eat In or Out”, which may or may not remind you of a certain hamburger chain. The thing is that this shop makes burgers that certainly could compete with In-and-Out, mainly thanks to their use of fresh ingredients. If you’re looking for a quick and good burger, this is the place to go.
Don’t forget the D. Lish in the River Park Square food court. It makes for a good pre-movie dinner.
I can recommend D.Lish’s (at least the one in RPS) based off of one hamburger I ate there. I didn’t need anything special on it, and as I was about to order their regular hamburger, the guy working there suggested, “If you’re just going to have ketchup and mustard on it, you might as well get the kid’s burger. It’s the same size patty.” Same size, but 30 cents cheaper. Maybe not the best practice from a business profit standpoint at first glance, but it did make me want to come back, so in the long run, everyone wins.
That kid’s hamburger was very delicious, too.
Several years ago, when D’Lish first opened I was instantly struck by the similarity to In-n-Out (I’m a Californicator, so that was welcome!). I saw the owner, Dave Lish, milling about the dining room and made this comment to him. He said with a sly smile,”My family was on vacation in California this summer.” Okay,so it’s a knock off, but a terrific one at that. And, if you didn’t already know this, you can carry your D’Lish food from the RPS location right into the movie! Cool!
In-N-Out likeness… a VERY good thing and a VERY good restaurant. The fries are fresh and real. None of that chemical enhanced crap like you get at the big fast food chains. You can get grilled onions on your burgers. Highly recommended place to eat!
The next time you’re feeling all-American, make your way past all the other burger joints and head on over to D. Lish’s. Once you’ve had a burger there, you’ll never eat at McDonalds again. GUARANTEED.
How can a Californian compare anything with the tasty goodness of In-n-Out? I guess once you lose your license plates you lose your loyalty and pride…but it was still pretty good food. They better not have a secret menu though.
ok so all i have heard is how great D. Lish is, and i have to be the ONE that says….mmm i don’t think so. The burger was ordinary, nothing spectacular, a normal everyday meat patty and lets not even go there when it some to “special” sauce.
Please, mayo and ketchup is not that special. The fries are ample, more than ample there is enough to share, but they were not crispy, rather soggy actually, not the greatest thing to go with a mediocre burger. The only shining beacon of light in an otherwise poor experience was the milkshake, thick, chocolaty without being TOO chocolaty, yes it does make a difference. I have also had the huckleberry shake and while it was nice i am not sure if i want to part with a great chocolate shake. All in all, i think that Spokane is lacking great burger drive thru joints. Somebody out there, HEY, are you listening? We need a burger rescue
Here’s the thing – the River Park Square location has a slightly different menu than the Division location. That includes what has become a favorite burger of mine, Dave’s Q Burger. You can’t get it at the Division restaurant. But a burger with fried onions, a BBQ sauce that’s just spicy enough to add to the party, bacon and pickles (I usually leave the tomato off) is about as good of a burger as you can get in Spokane. It’s also nice and messy, so you’ll use lots of napkins. There’s also a ham & swiss on foccacia that’s not at the Division location, either, that was good when I tried it. But the Q Burger is worth the trip to the RPS food court.
D’Lish rocks…plain and simple. Great little skinny burgers, great French Fries. It’s my favorite Spokane guilty pleasure.
Ok, we FINALLY went to D’Lish and gave it the first try. OMG! What tha? (not sure how many more exclamations of “Huh?” I can come up with here.) I do not comprehend what everyone loves about this place. We got the double and it was microscopic. However the price was astronomical for what we got. I think it was like $3.75 for the double and it was what I would call just a hair larger than a “mini-burger”. We ate it in about 3 bites, and we’re not really big eaters. That will be our first and last time there. I felt like the little boy in Oliver Twist “can we have somemore please?”. But we didn’t have the money for that, not there at least!
