As a European I saw very little European about the breakfasts at Old European.
The eggs benedict was served with way too much hollandaise sauce, almost completely drowning out the taste of the eggs. It didn’t help much that the hash-browns didn’t taste like anything – perhaps I was supposed to scoop the excess hollandaise over it? I don’t know. Horrible it was at least.
The pancakes are for the most part of the American style, and even the “Swedish” ones look more like something you’d have for dessert.
Want a better European breakfast? IHOP serves a more authentic one than this.

Having had more than a few breakfasts at Old European, both at the location in Pullman, WA and Post Falls, ID, I can easily place it as my favorite breakfast establishment.
The Swedish crepes are amazing. I always order mine with strawberries and a cream cheese filling. I usually dislike eggs and omelettes at most breakfast houses. However, Old European seems to make them like I do with many fresh ingredients available.
You must try the Dutch babies and aebleskivers. They are both incredibly delicious. The potato pancakes are also mouthwatering.
I have heard complaints in the past from friends who have ordered the eggs benedict. Having never been interested in eggs benedict, I cannot comment.

This was by far my favorite breakfast house. It’s not your typical meat and potatoes and there is a ton of variety. I had the sampler (or whatever it’s called ;o), where it had a little bit of many items, including the crepes and aebleskivers. I loved their menu and the little “history” type blurbs that went along with it. Everyone in the family loved their food and we’ll definitely be going there again.

I took two of my kids here for breakfast. I am on a diet … it was torture, but very much enjoyed the fresh fruit bowl. One of the best I’ve had out. Very, very fresh!.. My son’s child size breakfast was plenty good too. The egg and sausage sandwich that my daughter had could have had a little less butter on the toast. But, overall, I’d return for ableskivers, when I’m skinny!

We love the Valley location and have eaten there for years. Love the fresh orange jucice.

Old European is my favorite place to eat in Spokane, since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I used to go there as a kid with my parents and get pancakes with chocolate chip smiley faces, and now I go there as an adult for everything else (I must say though, I’m a huge fan of their aebleskivers and I make a point to get some every visit). Their fresh squeezed orange juice is a must with any breakfast, but their hot chocolate is fantastic as well. I’ve only tried a few items on their lunch menu, but they were all quite good, and I would recommend them if you aren’t in the mood for breakfast. Old European is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a good breakfast at a reasonable price.

Post Falls Location:
This is our favorite “splurge” breakfast destination. I find the prices a bit higher than similar chain restaurants, but the quality of the food justifies it.
The bacon is the good, thick cut kind. The eggs are good fresh to order. I haven’t tried any of their specialities, because I love the Belgian waffle so much. An absolute must is the blackberry brandy syrup. You have to ask for it. Mmmmm….paired with their above average coffee, it’s close to the perfect breakfast.

I love this place. I’ve been going there for 15 years. Been happy with everything every time.

Everytime I am driving back and forth from Washington and Montana I make it a point to stop in Post Falls. I only wished that they would stay open longer. The food is truly great. If you have not been you must try it.

I really don’t see why so many people like this place so much. I’ve given Old European a few tries and each time I leave disappointed. The food is just blah. I make much better hashbrowns at home, thank you very much.

I would agree with the reviews to avoid the hashbrowns at all costs. The rest of the breakfast was wonderful. My wife had the cake plate and loved it. I will be going back

Diabetic coma in the making. Delicious but not very healthy. Usually a long wait on weekends

I love this place!!! Very sad that the valley location closed, but the news is that the one on division is moving to a larger location. Come July 25 (i think) they will be in the old Tony Roma location, they’ve been busy remodeling like crazy for quite some time. Can’t wait to try it, just don’t mess with my Abelskivers…..take that as a warning :)

For the most part, my husband and I weren’t impressed with this place. Aside from being all-but-European (we happen to know because we’re originally from there), the food is way too overpriced. Plus, a typical European breakfast consists of things such as pastry and fruit, not a calorie bomb(easily upwards of 1200 calories each) like “Goulash Omelet”!
Yes :-) jordan's review (Jul 29th 2008)
By far the best breakfast in Spokane. The new location on on North Division is delightful. The decor is beautiful… very European. Don’t miss the cool murals and the family stories in the waiting area (yes, now they have a waiting area!) We will be back every weekend. Thanks for the additional parking!
No :-( Janessa's review (Aug 19th 2008)
AVOID avoid avoid! They used to be awesome (more so at the one on Sprague) but have gone steadily downhill. Went to the new location last Saturday, and the waiting was atrocious. Only a few minutes to get sat down but service was dreadful and they were emptying out at that point. Worst of all, they put random bits of meat in my vegetarian goulash (due to grill carelessness I am sure). I will probably never be back, sad to say.

Fantastic! Outstanding service and the food is superior. This really is the ONLY place for breakfast in Spokane. The establishment is very clean. I love the new espresso bar. The jet teas are the best in town and the coffee is wonderful, as well. Love it! Love it! Love it!
