Yes :-) Jennifer's review (Apr 30th 2006)
I’ve never been a big fan of cowboy kitsch. Pine twig furniture, calico linens, and Boots Reynolds prints just make me cringe. Hand scrawled cowpoke and cowgirl restroom signs are nausea inducing. Thank goodness I called in a recent lunch order to the downtown High Nooner and grabbed the bags to go. Really, I should have made the whole High Nooner/Western connection before I swung my way through Ms. Kitty’s doors.
Decor aside, High Nooner makes a decent sandwich. It isn’t Domini’s, but the local sandwich shop is a nice alternative to Applebee’s or Chili’s for Spokane’s nine-to-fivers.For this Project Spokane visit, I chose a traditional club sandwich. The soft white bread, iceberg lettuce, and generous smear of mayonnaise reminded me of the sandwiches my grandmother makes. Simple, but filling and familiar. Remi ordered the Unforgettable Nooner which came with a nice bit of avocado and green sprouts.

The High Nooner is home of the some of the best sandwiches in downtown Spokane. I ordered the Veggie Nooner. (What can I say? My body is my temple.)
I don’t really know what I was thinking. I may have just thought that it was time for something different. The sandwich was great as far as veggie sandwiches go. About a quarter of the way through my sandwich I decided that I was nuts and all I really wanted was a sandwich with some meat.
I went up to order again and the guy behind the counter gave me half off the price of the second sandwich. I think on some level he understood that I had made a terrible mistake and if left uncorrected my life could spiral out of control. Luckily, all the my wrongs had been righted and I really appreciated that he helped me out.
So what’s the dish?: I think calling the High Nooner’s sandwiches Gourmet is slightly misleading. They make great sandwiches but calling them gourmet is a bit misleading.

I can’t stay away from the Veggie Nooner sandwich. I wish I could tell you the other sandwiches were good from personal experience, but I always end up ordering the same one, minus the mayo. My husband likes several of the sandwiches, both hot and cold, and my daughter likes the PB&J, of course. I have only eaten at the Valley location, but they almost always do a good job, and if they take a long time getting your sandwich ready, they sometimes throw in extra chocolate chip cookies. Their desserts are good as well, especially the brownie-type thing with white frosting and mini chocolate chips on top.

I’ve only eaten the delivery meals. I’ve never had a bad sandwich and they have reasonable prices. I’d suggest the High Nooner to anyone having a business lunch or that just enjoys a good sandwich.

Nevi Nooner – Enough said. Get it.

Service is sorority enthusiastic…Yeah! Woo!
Sandwich is, like, too much. I’ve done several, mostly from the valley location. High Nooner: Egg salad, yes. Bacon, yes. Rest of it, Why?
So, a sandwich that’s really too much, probably too many ingredients, prices are….yeah, they’re OK, and they’ve got great pickles.
Faux-western decor, the cunningly added “nooner” thing to each sandwich, I’ll give it better than a no, maybe a “nah”, because I generally go somewhere else.

Yet, I don’t gravitate here.
