YUM! I’ve been here several times and have been pleased every time! Great food, good portions, friendly staff. I love the green beans, lemon chicken and black bean chicken. I’m a real spice weenie, so I don’t get the hot stuff. Everything seems to have great flavor. I’ll definitely go back. Again, a little on the expensive side. (I’m cheap)
Gordy’s Sichuan Cafe is the best ethnic cuisine in the area. Cool space, great chef, killer staff, quality menu, and awesome specials. Show up early to make sure you get a seat, order some soup, a beer, and a special, you will be glad that you did. Last time I was there I had Smoked Pork & Edamame soup, then a red curry Chicken special, I told Gordy to make it how it should be eaten and yes, it was a 2 beer meal. I highly recommend Gordy’s, I only wish it was in Coeur d’Alene.
I have been so many times I can’t count and that says it all. Clearly the best Chinese cuisine in town! No one else even comes close IMHO.
Hands down best Chinese cuisine in town. Not the typical Chinese restaurant with same ole same ole menu. Their menu is definitely Asian, but with a unique twist that makes you want to come back and try something different. Love the dan-dan noodles and basil chicken. Great service.
Oh, Gordys. Our affair is so fraught. You are so tasty, yet so far away. I have never had a bad meal here, and I always order the same thing—coconut curry tofu—and even though I nearly choked to death on an extra-long piece of perfectly-done calamari, I will order it again.
Gordys is like no Asian food you have ever had. If you’re craving something flavorful and exotic while still being hearty and not too out there, this is the place to go. Like others have said, not your typical breaded and fried chicken/pork dredged in sauces, nothing you could find at Peking North or even the slightly more upscale Cathay Inn. I almost always do takeout because the space is so small and so popular, but it’s great for an off-peak hours weekday lunch.
The best advice for someone looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Spokane is to leave town. Probably shouldn’t start driving till you hit Seattle or Portland. But if you are stuck in Spokane, this place is very tasty. Only nearly decent Chinese restaurant in town, actually. However, the Sichuan part of the name will disappoint anyone who based on that name and an even vaguely accurate notion of Chinese food goes looking for Sichuan cuisine—- nothing here is that spicy, certainly not in any Sichuan sense! Gordy’s is run by caucasians (there’s not much else in Spokane), and the fare is prepared for typical American pallets, but clearly someone here has studied real Chinese cooking and does a better job of imitating or being inspired by it than the other General Tso dives slinging gooey, heat-lamp treated crap. Things are much better here—fresher, lighter, with a floor that’s actually been cleaned w/in last year.
