Yes :-) Jennifer's review (Apr 30th 2006)
I remember eating lunch at a small cafe tucked inside of Nordstrom with my grandmother when I was seven or eight. If pressed, I’d venture to say it was probably the expansive North County store on Via Rancho Parkway. I couldn’t say for sure, but I remember it was a big deal. It was hushed and sterile and there were things on the menu I’d never heard of. Women with big hair and even bigger shopping bags pecked at their plates. I never quite grasped why a restaurant was inside the fancy department store where we could look but not buy. I just knew my grandma, who would chastise me for wasting money when I threw away my cardboard Happy Meal box, was treating me to a nice lunch.
I still feel a bit out of place at Nordstrom and to be honest I don’t think I’ve ever purchased anything there. I watched my Norwegian mother-in-law purchase socks once, but in her currency it was a good deal. Otherwise the closest I get to Nordstrom is the espresso bar outside the entrance in order to check out the bean scene. The coffee is nothing special, but it is warm and portable. The modern striped paper cups are adorable and quirky dishes and mugs always catch my eye as I wait in line. Although overpriced, Nordstrom’s coffee sure beats the concession stand prices at the AMC upstairs and the ushers always seem to turn their heads as you walk in. So for a lazy movie and latte on an autumnal afternoon, Nordstrom Espresso Bar is a safe bet.

They make a truly fantastic Mexican mocha. Just spicy and chocolatey enough, without being disgustingly sweet.
