I am a torn man. On one hand I believe that bars that have restaurants and a full menu should be held to just as high expectations as regular non-bar restaurants. On the other hand, however, I feel that bar food is unique and not characterized by the same qualities that one looks for in a regular restaurant.
This conundrum was most severe on my trip to Jimmy’z. At first I was slightly disappointed in the menu. I couldn’t find anything that really jumped out at me as unique or special.
After lamenting my situation I decided on forgoing my usual what’s good here? I decided to order bar food: Burger (med-rare). I was pleasantly surprised. The price was fair and it was cooked as I had asked.
While it wasn’t anything special its simplicity and quality made it memorable. The atmosphere is great at Jimmy’z. It’s a bar that is clean and classic.
So what’s the dish?: Jimmy’z is a bar. But it’s a bar with a good restaurant and an eye for quality. It’s traditional menu is refreshing.

My daughter and I had dinner this last week at Jimmy’z.
We started with the pan-seared calamari. It was a refreshing change from the usual breaded kind with just the right taste of lemon and pepperocinis.
Next Caesar salad (included with the entrees). It was a hit with my little Caesar salad critic ; I liked it too.
My daughter chose the grilled to order Jimmy’z New York Steak—Medium rare of course. She proclaimed it a hit.
I choose the Halibut Picatta, the sauce was great and did not overpower, but accented the fresh taste of the halibut.
Wow, we were just to full to eat desert, even though Emily’s blueberry cake looked wonderful—Next time I will get it to go.
The service was great and we think Andrew rocks in the kitchen.

Bars are hip, then generally accepted, and then become passe.
Jimmy’z has been hip.
I had occasion to go there the day before election day. We ordered a couple of beers, had a plate of wings.
Monday night football was on.
The waitstaff was excellent, attentive but not hovering, the appy was initially a bit pricey at 8 bucks, but the value upon reciept was excellent, zesty and flavorful, not burning for the sake of hot.
Spectacular. Still.

The space is very amazing with the remodel being done to with the best quality. The food came out hot and was great. We had the rueben sandwich which was one of the best I have ever had. We also had the stuffed chicken which was really good although it came on the bone and would have been nice to know on the menu. The staff was really short handed for a Saturday night. Only two people working the whole floor with one person also bartending. We had to ask twice for bread and the server didn’t really have the menu dialed. We had to track down the waiter more than once to get service. I think with one more waiter things would have been much better. I will return especially for that Rueben at lunch.

My fiance and I went to Jimmy’z for an early Valentine’s dinner on the 13th. We wanted somewhere new and with good food. We were impressed. I ordered the prime rib, which was the Tuesday night special, and it was wonderful. It was served with horseradish mashed potatoes and vegetables. My fiance had the sausage and pepper penne pasta. He loved it and cleaned his plate. Cool atmosphere, great service and outstanding food. We will be back.

Have been there several times for drinks at night and have always had a great time! Good people and a great atmosphere. A large group of us went there for dinner last Sat night and everything was out of this world! The service was top of the line complete with the chef bring the dishes to the table. If you’ve never eaten there it’s a must! I will be going back as soon as possible.
