So in retrospect I guess I should have jotted down what I had for dinner here, but I didn’t. I do remember that it was the second to last dish on the vegetarian menu, and I’m fairly certain it involved paneer cheese in a thick korma sauce. And that should help you find it.

Anyway! Whatever it may or may not have been called, it was most certainly delicious. I went for “medium” spiciness which had a decent enough kick to it, but I don’t see any real reason for not going for “hot” if you can stand a little heat. It all tastes really fresh too, which I guess comes down to most of it being made right in the kitchen.

From the three other plates I sampled, I can safely say that they were all well up to the standard you’d expect from a good Indian place. This is particularly important here in Spokane where we to the best of my knowledge only have two other Indian restaurants. And quite honestly I’m thinking Bombay Palace might be the best of them.

For those who are into a bit of extra sampling the $6.99 lunch buffet might be worth checking out, though the prices of the individual dishes are quite pleasant themselves. The same thing can be said for the staff which is both courteous and helpful. My paneer in korma sauce was, in fact, a choice I made on their recommendation.

Go check Bombay Palace out. It’s good stuff.

We have found Bombay Palace to definitely be the best Indian restaurant in the area. For vegetarian dishes we love their Bhindi Bhaji, which is a delicious okra dish and their Eggplant Bharta. Both are excellent medium or spicy.

Not sure how long they have been open, but some improvements could be done to the inside of the building, but you will hardly notice once you get your food.

The owners are very nice and you will really enjoy the food.

I liked the buffet they had going at Bombay palace. It was much better than Taste of India or Delhi Palace of Spokane and seemed cleaner. Was not very fond of the the Ragda or maybe potato patties they were grilling on the side. Something didn’t taste right and of course in no way compared to the snack food you eat in India. The warm naan they served right at the table was delicious.

Indian food is by far my favorite cuisine. Moving to this area threw me for a bit of a loop when I discovered there were only two Indian places in Spokane. Needless to say, I tried them both once. Yes, once. I drove to Portland one day just to get some decent saag. I went to Plainfields and cried the whole way back to Idaho knowing that there was no more Indian food in my near future. I found Bombay Palace shortly after it opened and I’m very happy that I did. We tried the saag, vindaloo, samosas, naan, bhaji, and quite a few other tasty treats. Everything was great and I thank the owners of Bombay Palace for taking a chance and creating such great food. Highly recommended. Keep On truckin’.

When we moved here from L.A. we were bummed that there wasn’t a lot of ethnic cuisine, but this place is fantastic, we are thrilled. The Saag Paneer was some of the best I have had and the Chicken Tikka Masala and Korma were also great. The owner and staff were extremely nice. The atmosphere isn’t great, but the food makes up for it by far. I definitely recommend this place and will be going back for more soon.

By far the best Indian restaurant in Spokane to date. The folks there are really nice and always ready to prepare something different. My wife and I like to to get a side order of curry sauce so we can dunk our nann bread in. People of Spokane you really need to go downtown and try them.

Yes :-) Mike's review (Jan 20th 2007)

Ok so I’m just back from my second Indian culinary experience in the US. I had high expectations as a couple of people had recommended Bombay Palace to me and I was not disappointed.

I started off with Chicken Pakoras which were served with both a chile and a mint sauce. The pakoras were very tasty. The chile sauce was not at all spicy and had a strong taste of ginger while the mint sauce actually seemed to have more of a kick and tasted very fresh with, I think, green pepper and cucumber. All delicious!

For the main course I ordered Chicken Kahari (hot), rice and a plain naan bread. The Chicken Kahari sauce was hot and sour with onion and green pepper. It was really nice and if you like your food spicy was not too hot. It was quite salty so try it before adding any more! The chicken was very tender and there was more than enough for me. All of the above was washed down with two large bottles of lovely Kingfisher.

I left the Bombay Palace very happy, contented… and sleepy. Highly recommended. They also have a buffet on Friday and Saturday which looked good. One for next time :-)

Bad bland food. Bad service. I’ll never go there again.

Great place.

Yes :-) Nicole 's review (Jul 16th 2007)

I just moved to Spokane from Pittsburgh, PA which has something like the third largest Indian population in the country, and no fewer than 20 Indian restaurants in the city/surrounding area. The opening of Bombay Palace coincided with my move date, and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the food and service. My boyfriend and I stopped in when they were supposed to be closed (maybe they were!) but the staff was friendly, invited us in, and we enjoyed the buffet as the only two people in the restaurant, which I found beautiful inside despite other reviewers comments about the decor. The lunch buffet is a steal and comes with fresh nan or garlic nan delivered to the table. Makes me feel like I am back in Pittsburgh, and that’s a huge compliment!

We love this place and are on a first-name basis with the host.

Bombay Palace’s buffet caused me to nearly explode because I couldn’t stop eating the food. Do yourself a favor and experience this place, namely the buffet if it’s your first visit. Of the Indians I’ve talked to all have recommended Bombay Palace as the best Indian in town. The curries, rice, and various other goodies in the buffet coupled with fresh naan delivered to your table make the buffet hard to beat at under 10 bucks!

Yes :-) Emily's review (May 5th 2008)

This is the only Indian place I will eat at in Spokane. I must say my first visit I was a little scared, the outside is a bit shabby and the low lunch buffet price just screams food poisoning. However the food is absolutely delicious, by far the best Indian food I have had since moving out of the Bay Area. The Chicken Tikka Masala is excellent, as is everything, but is definitely my personal favorite. They serve fresh warm naar for free at your table. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My family has gone in on a couple of occasions with no idea what to order, the owner has no problem choosing for us and I’ve never been let down. I highly reccomend that you try it, it is much better than the only other 2 Indian places in Spokane!

My wife and I decided to try this place out after reading the good reviews here. We were a little worried when we looked at the building but once we were inside we were definitely impressed with the atmosphere, the service and above all the food! Our server recommended the Karahi Lamb and the Murg Tikka Masala. Both of these were outstanding and full of flavor. We also ordered the Papadum and Naan as appetizers. Both were great but I really liked Papadum. We are looking forward to coming back soon!

Yes :-) Matthew's review (Aug 3rd 2008)

I went here because it was the restaurant nearest my hotel. However, it took my 10 days to go because of its appearance. When I did, it was on the strength of the recommendations here.

I have eaten at the best Indian restaurants in Brick Lane, London and the home of the Balti – Birmingham. This restaurant stood up to the comparisons.

I can recommend it to anyone wanting a curry or just a good value, tasty meal in Spokane.
