Yes :-) Collin ratboycom's review (Jun 19th 2006)

The Japanese and Koreans have historically not liked each other. It’s funny to see that despite differences food has managed to cross the borders and be favorites on both sides. Enter Teriyaki and Sushi both very Japanese in origin but at the same time loved by Koreans (for instance Sushi.com is owned by a Korean Family). Korean BBQ, especially Bulbogi, is loved by Japanese (you can even get Bulbogi Pizza at Pizza Hut in Tokyo). So when on the search for some delicious Korean BBQ in Spokane I asked some of my Japanese friends, they all said that Fusion was a favorite. I had been itching to go there for lunch for weeks but I have somewhat closed minded coworkers who have repeatedly told me they don’t want to try any of my “weird Asian food.”

Tonight I woke up from some hard studying (or was that sleeping while trying to study) and decided I didn’t feel like cooking. Faced with few really good choices living on the far north side and craving something different I decided a quick jaunt to Fusion was in order. I was immediately greeted by the host and even though I told him that it was going to be a to go order he offered me a seat and a drink while I looked at the menu. He sat down and asked me if I have had Korean food before, I replied yes, so he gave me the quick rundown of the menu and I instantly knew it was bulbogi I was after. So I sat in my booth waiting patiently for my order.

Seeing the outside and inside of the building I realized it hadn’t changed much since it was a Denny’s so many years ago. A little Asian decor here and there but still had the old booths and tables from yesteryear. That’s ok though because great service and tasty food are always good reasons to forgive the lack of decoration. I quickly received my food kept in white clam-shell containers in a plastic bag for the ride home.

When I got home I could barely take enough time to get out a plate and my chop sticks before I had to taste what I had been smelling the whole ride home. Delicious marinated beef and veggies awaited me and the bed of rice they would soon be on. They even included Kim Chee, bean sprouts, and pickled cucumber as sides. The meat was perfect, tender and juicy. The sides were good also but I wish the Kim Chee was hotter, it tasted like it was dulled down so Joe Average man would be able to eat it (real Kim Chee is very hot and garlicky not for those who don’t enjoy a little fire in their mouth).

I still have a fair amount of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I anticipate hearing “What weird thing are you eating now Collin?” when I pop this in the lunch room microwave. So a synopsis: Good Service, Good food and Good prices= happy stomach.

I am Korean so naturally I love Korean food and this place meets all standards of authentic Korean cooking. Most of their dishes tastes just like my mom’s cooking. I’ve tried most of their dishes on the menu and have not been disappointed. My husband, who is not Korean loves it also particularly the spicy grilled pork. My favorite would have to be their teriyaki chicken~the sauce is to die for. The servings are of generous proportion and we always leave with a satisfied tummy.

We dine here at least 3 times a month. If you are looking for quiet place to dine, then this is the place. Family friendly, great service and great food.
