Exactly how and why we ended up at Northern Quest Casino might better be left unsaid, but there we were and so was Fai’s Noodle House. A casino pho house that actually looked half-way authentic was an unexpected turn of events, and thus it had to be investigated. Long story short: next time I’ll go with the buffet.

Much as I respect anybody who can make a great pho, I also think that it’s equally difficult to completely screw one up. Yet that was exactly what the otherwise nice people at Fai’s managed to do. I would have suspected the overly salty soup to be one of those “just add water and microwave” deals had I not seen the chef make it right in front of me.

Added to the pho were large pieces of duck which did little to enhance the overall flavor. I can certainly live with overcooked meat in a soup, but when it adds nothing to the experience, then it is superfluous to me. The noodles were, if nothing else, fairly standard.

I guess I shouldn’t expect much from any casino restaurant, but Fai’s just left me with a supremely bad taste in my mouth. Driving two blocks down to the Taco Bell almost seems like the better option if you’re after some “exotic” dining in Airway Heights.

We have dined at Fai’s many times and they have the best almond chicken ever. They use tender white meat with a light breading and a great sauce not like the hard nuggets you get at other places. I have had the duck soup also and I did not find it overly salted and the duck was quite tender. The staff there is great and so is the tea they use. The buffet is also good :}

This place has the best food you will ever have I personally love there almond chicken and sweet and sour chicken. If you have not been here it is a must.
