No :-( Thanh Nguyen's review (Jul 20th 2006)
I am a Vietnamese, and I used to be a very frequent guest at Vien Dong restaurant. I went there for Pho every weekend for almost a year, until the owner sold it to a new person. Pho at Vien Dong restaurant used to be the best authentic Vietnamese pho in the whole Spokane and C’d Lane region. However, after it was transfered to a new management, the food is not good anymore. I do not recommend Vien Dong at this momment. The owner is a Chinese, and even though he can speak Vietnamese well, he doesn’t cook very good Vietnamese food.
Yes :-) John Speare's review (Jan 22nd 2008)
I have absolutely no credibility to know anything about Vietnamese food. I’m a middle-class white Spokanite. I do know that I like Vien Dong’s though. I like the block where it’s located; I like the French-inspired, Vietnamese sandwiches (headcheese and mayo with fresh cilantro, jalapeno, shredded carrots served on a crunchy french roll); I like the avocado shake; I like the beef curry; and I dig the pho… with beef balls and brisket. Dump chili sauce on every thing and watch Sprague go by outside. Finish with a beer from the Checkerboard down the street and it’s a hard Spokane experience to beat for under $12.

Our business is located about one mile from Vien Dong. I take all guests and co-workers to this Vietnamese Restaurant for lunch. The food is excellent, and reasonably priced. It could be very cold in the winter, so bring your jacket!
