I love this place for lunch. The food is excellent and the service is splendid. Although I have not been there for dinner, I have perused the menu, and the items seem interesting, although slightly expensive, relative to the reasonable lunch. Best make reservations, I have waited several times.

We’ve made Wild Sage our regular lunch place at work. Everything has always been very fresh. The bistro fries with Merlot gravy are wonderful. We’ve all enjoyed the sandwiches and salads, and have found that they have some of the best burgers in town.

The Wild Sage is my favorite spot for lunch. I have not been there for dinner, have to find a date that has some culture to match the venue. I just don’t want this special place to get too big or busy and spoil it!

Yes, Yes, a thousand times YES! I’ve only been to the Wild Sage once, but it left me with quite the impression.

The atmosphere is relaxed (read: not too stuffy), the wait staff were excellent, and the food, while I can only speak for the “Yuppie Chow Burger” I had, was splendid. So delicious. Whereas some places tout “flavor,” the WS delivers.

The awards are well deserved.

Chef Alexa ROCKS!! She’s bringing creative, innovative dining to Spokane and it’s about time.

The highlights of our most recent visit included an artisan cheese plate featuring a velvety warm Cypress Hill goat cheese scattered with roasted garlic, a few meltingly sweet onions, oil, and dressed with a balsamic reduction. The house made rosemary and sun dried tomato crackers served alongside were better than I remember from our last visit. I also love the breaking bread selection from the small plates. It too, is a great way to start a meal.

Whether we’re alone or dining with friends, these intimate and communal plates never fail to set the stage for an awesome evening and always encourage the sharing and conversation that makes for the best remembered dining experiences. Doug and I are diligently working our way through the menu, and even the liver and onions is a delicious success. As far as I can tell, nothing on Alexa’s menu misses. The service is prompt, knowledgeable and professional. Lucky Spokane, there is almost an embarrassment of riches when to comes to finding a new place to eat. Whether you want to coze in for a romantic evening or live it up and celebrate, don’t miss The Wild Sage, Spokane has never had it so good.

I set up a business dinner here last week. There were about 12 of us. We ordered right off the menu.

We had one of the best dining experiences I’ve had for some time. Everyone really enjoyed the food. I particularly enjoyed the rack of lamb.

Great little dining room. Very tastefully remodeled.

There is enough reviews here to prove the place is great, however, for those who don’t know…
go to the Wild Sage website above, join the dining club and get an email for $20 off your meal. This is great!

Plus, they give you other perks at your birthday and anniversary. Not many places besides chain places do something like that. It’s worth it!

After our favorite restaurant Paprika closed, we have felt that nothing in Spokane would every be able to replace it. Thanks to the Wild Sage, we finally have a new favorite! If you don’t make a reservation, you may be sorry. This place is quickly becoming “THE SPOT” in Spokane.

You will fall in love with the warm popovers and flavored butter that is served before your meal. I could eat these for dinner, but save room for the entrees. You won’t be disappointed! I love the liver preparation. I know what you are thinking…Yuck! You won’t even know it’s liver. It’s to die for. Try the seared ahi appetizer…yum! Sit at the bar and watch some of the best martini’s in town being prepared right in front of you.

The prices are very reasonable compared to other high end restaurants around town. My husband and I got out of there for under $100, with a bottle of wine included in the bill. Try to do that at Luna!

I’m going to have to buck the trend on this one, and even though we only ate here once, once was enough to scare us off from walking through the doors again.

My wife and I ordered the hummus app which appeared delectable but was lacking any sort of flavor, the pita served with it was ice cold and stale overall very unimpressed at the app.

We had a dinner salad which was drowned in cloying sweet dressing while munching on freshly made bread that was also tasteless and underdone with a yeasty smell to it.

When our entrees arrived my wife took one bite of the huckleberry bourbon steak only to spit it out in revulsion. I took a small sample and had the same reaction. My entrée while edible had all of the character and charm of chewing on newspaper.

The server never once asked if we would like a second drink and did not notice that my wife had pushed her entrée plate away from her. When we made a comment that the food was inedible she asked us if we wanted to “take it to go”. At which point we asked to see the manager.

The manager arrived promptly and inspected the dish and then to my utter shock told us that “Most people do NOT like this dish the first time they eat it and it is a flavor that you need to get accustomed too.”

WHAT?

He did take it off the menu and then offered us a free dessert which we refused, my wife wanted dinner not something sweet.

As we were leaving the server told us that most people did not like the dish my wife had ordered either so we shouldn’t feel bad.

Gee thanks.

If one dish had been a disaster and the other ones were okay or good I would give the place another try, but they struck out on everything, including the one mixed drink we ordered.

I’m not sure what the last person was talking about, but our experience at the Wild Sage has always been perfect. I have had the opportunity to eat at the establishment a number of times and will recommend the place to all of my friends.

Yes :-) Dan's review (May 29th 2008)

Price: ~$100-120 for two (included 1 appetizer, two main courses, a beer, and two glasses of wine)

Food: DELICIOUS, classy presentation as well. Worth the money if you are willing to spend it. Between the two courses I tried, I could not find anything to complain about (I am not a food critic or anything) other than maybe the portion size, but this a place you go to for quality, not quantity. Regardless, I still ended the night with a full stomach.

Atmosphere: relaxed enough to where I would not feel bad about wearing jeans and a polo when I do visit again. Button-up shirts, slacks and casual dresses were there as well as jeans and t-shirts. Comfortable, well spaced tables. Light background music.

Service: A+...servers were attentive and cordial…food was delivered in less than 15 minutes after ordering.

Great place overall, highly recommended.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT—We heard about the WILD SAGE AMERICAN BISTRO, so we thought we’d give it a try.

The 1st time we went there the service was rude, slow, and provential.

We thought we might have had a bad experience, so we thought we’d try it again, a month later.

To make a long story short, the service was still bad—Both times it’s been consistent; and an absolute disappointment.

Here’s the highlights & consistent pattern for both visits:

Pro’s:

– Downtown Spokane – Business is waining since it opened, so easier to get in

Con’s:

– Unfriendly Service – Provincial, Rude, & Haughty – Slow to move customers from waiting area to tables – Small Waiting Area – Conflicts with Tables (People Sitting) – Overpriced / Food not worth the Entree Pricing – Staff needs Customer Service Training (ie: Who’s the Customer)

Summary: Not Recommended – Better choices in Spokane

Back in February my wife and I tried the Wild Sage and it was a monumental disaster (see above review). However with much prodding my wife agreed to try it one more time. This time we were pleasantly surprised, the food was excellent, presentations very nice, great balance of flavors – WOW what a change.

The server we had was great and we told him about our experience the first time and he surprisingly agreed with us, that the items we had before were the least favorite and most returned items on the menu. He even mentioned that it took them some time to finally admit their errors and start listening to the customers.

So my hat is off to them and we will be back – keep up the good work.

WHAT A DISASTER!!!—We’ve eaten twice at the Wild Sage, and both times the wait-staff are haughy & unfriendly, and the Entrees were like eating uncooked Sage in the Wild.

Based on the Entree Pricing, someone please explain to the Spokane Restaurant Owners that this level of pricing means “Good Service” along with “Good Entrees”—Somehow here in Spokane they think they can charge this level, and provide BAD SERVICE!!!
