Yes :-) Jennifer's review (Aug 2nd 2006)
Only a few weeks old, The District occupies retail space on Broadway in front of the Bella salon. It isn’t uncommon to spot women in Redken capes drinking coffee while waiting for the dryer. The small shop opens up to the street via a fantastic roll-up garage door. In addition to serving DOMA coffee, The District also offers light lunch items and baked goods.
On a recent hot, hot afternoon I was pleasantly surprised to find an affable barista willing to blend a real mocha for me. She shared my disdain and distrust for powdered mixes and premade granitas. The sugar in those things could induce diabetes! Though The District does offer powdered blended drinks, I was sincerely excited they had no problem making the real stuff too.

This morning I made the trip past the arena toward the courthouse to try out The District. Jennifer had reviewed it early last week.
I like to know the goings on in my neighborhood. So I decided to give them a go. My Americano was fantastic. They topped it off with some soy for me. I can’t remember what type of coffee they serve but it was good. It was defiantly a mild central American blend and while I usually prefer an roast-ey south American blend the District’s coffee was pretty dang good.
I also had a chance to sampled their oriental salad. The lettuce was a bit limp but it was still good, definitely a good snack or maybe a good late lunch.
So what’s the dish?: The has all the hallmarks of a great local coffee shop: They are on a quite side street, they have good service, the shop is a whole in the wall.

Yes :-) Thomas's review (Oct 25th 2006)
The District has the best coffee in Spokane at an affordable price. Jana and Melody, the baristas, put service first. Now that the weather is taking a turn, it will be fun to see how Jana moves from the sidewalk into the neat attractively decorated space next to to Bella Salon. I like the prepaid coffee card and enjoy the call ahead service.
