Wasn’t it just a few days ago I said I was tired of Asian food? I’d had my fill of pho, lemongrass chicken, pahd Thai, and spring rolls. I wanted a taco, a slice of pizza, maybe a bowl of American spaghetti, or even a good old fashion cheeseburger with fries. Then it makes complete sense Remi and I ended up on the grass overlooking the Spokane River at Riverview Thai. Complete sense.

It is a great view by the way. A lazy river, lush green grass, quiet surroundings, and barely another patron in sight. Riverview Thai’s outside tables are probably some of the best in town; especially when looking for a place to disappear to for an hour or so. I told Remi I probably could have stayed there all night with the lawn to ourselves. He laughed and told me I was procrastinating again. Then he told me I was just making things up when I said our waiter reminded me of Tim Robbins in High Fidelity. But he really did.
Despite the comfy atmosphere, genunine service, and gorgeous view, I wasn’t too keen on the food. The pahd si-ew was dry, sticky, and pretty bland. I couldn’t stomach the chicken and peanut sauce over spinach. Remi said it was decent but agreed it was definetly not something I’d like. The real kicker was the tab. Close to $40 for two. To me, food like this should be dirt cheap. With so many other Thai options in town, Riverview Thai just doesn’t rank high on my list.

The atmosphere was nice. The service good.

I didn’t think the food was as good as I was expecting.
I didn’t like the Swimming Rama and I didn’t like the sauces or the curries, etc. It just wasn’t the real thing. Sorry.

The lunch buffet is excellent and you can sit outdoors by the river!
