I don’t care what people say, I think Neato Burrito is a good name.
Even more importantly, the former Slickrock Burrito is now hipper than thou, almost up there with Stefan. (Almost.) Lovely new interior, as well as opening hours until 2am. The latter is obviously great, not just because a burrito pairs well with inebriation (and it does,) but something like this definitely help fuel the scene downtown. Outside of The Satellite, Scratch (when they decide to stay open,) and a tiny handful of other places, late night dining is pretty much limited to large fast food franchises.
As for Neato; the menu is largely the same, but the end product has definitely improved. From what I understand, they are now a whole lot more generous with things like lime, spices, and other flavor enhancers than Slickrock was, and it shows. Or tastes. Or whatever.
Before going to see the brilliant Cloverfield, I tried the new BBQ burrito which was delicious. Brisket, pinto beans, spicy sour cream, a very fresh tasting salsa… If food is sex, then a late night burrito paired with a Northern Lights IPA is Jessica Lucas.
Neato is awesome (see, I didn’t go for a cheap pun) and should be re-discovered by all.
I have been hesitant to try Neato since it changed from Slick Rock, but I don’t know why. Everything is still super amazing, and I think the prices might be even better than they were. I can’t tell any change whatsoever to the food (although the staff is a lot more fun). A burrito is 2 meals for me and they do offer a ‘light’ option. Yay for Neato!
Slick Rock Burrito recently finished Second Place behind Ionic Burrito for The Inlander’s Best Burrito Award but I beg to differ. I dine at the Slick Rock South frequently and the burritos are always rolled fat and easily customized. They have great choices of tortillas, fillings and hot sauces. The veggie Thai is a fan favorite but the carnitas are simply the best.
Although I wasn’t impressed on my first visit with the potato-chipotle burrito, I gave them another go, and I ordered the chicken Thai burrito with the spinach tortilla. I know there are a lot of places to get a Thai burrito around here, but I really enjoyed this one, much more so than the one I had at Ionic. I’ve only been to the South Hill location, and the employees there seem very dedicated to specializing your order to just how you want it. So though you may not like every burrito they offer, there’s bound to be at least one combination you really like. Around $6 per burrito might seem like a lot to some, but they’re big and you might even be able to get two meals out of one.
Neato, oh boy. Noth’n fancy, and neato-licious! Way to go kids.
I had the small version of the black bean and thai chicken burrito with a spinach tortilla. I was very satisfied, and loved the spiciness of the peanut sauce. Even though I got the smaller version it was still enough for two meals for me. I also had the endless chips and salsa and they were sooo good. I am a big fan of salsa and loved Tim’s tomato, they have a variety of salsas and you can try them all if you want. Love this. The guacamole was probably the best I have had out, next to my own I make at home!!!
My husband, A BIG EATER WITH A BIG APPETITE, he got the BBQ Brisket burrito with a standard flour tortilla, full size burrito. The regular size burrito was two meals for him, and that was surprising! These burritos are a great value. The brisket was excellent, I heard the owner makes it homemade. Kudos to them.
All in all good quantity and quality of food for the price.
