Pretend you can’t note my sarcasm.

At Deluxe Coffee it isn’t possible to order an eight ounce cappuccino. Twelve ounces. Sixteen ounces. Even twenty-four ounces, but if two shots of rich espresso and bit of microfoam is all you’re looking for you’re out of luck. Just imagine.

I understand the reasoning. There isn’t enough profit margin on an eight ounce cappuccino and some customers might even feel a bit ripped off. But really, to be taken seriously in my book, you better at least offer one. I was told they simply don’t have the cups.

The 4 Seasons Coffee at Deluxe is decent, but not mindblowing. The hotel lobby interior is pleasant. And I would love to get my hands on one of their dark chocolate and light blue leather serving trays. Otherwise, Deluxe doesn’t top the list of Spokane coffee finds.

I have been to Deluxe coffee twice and I would not recommend it to anyone. Not only is the service not the greatest, but my espresso was burnt on both occasions. I believe in being fair and giving everyone a second chance, but when the second latte was just as worse as the first I took it off of my coffee shop list.

I had a very sad, sad experience at Deluxe Coffee. I work down the street and was pretty excited to see a coffee shop was coming. When it finally opened, a co-worker and I trekked over to check it out. She ordered her drink first: a 16 oz nonfat iced sugar free caramel mocha. Not that complicated of a drink. However, upon watching the barista make the drink, I decided I wouldn’t be ordering anything. She asked what kind of milk about 4 times. The barista also had to ask if chocolate went into a mocha. She also added the chocolate after adding the shots/milk/ice, so the chocolate clumped up at the bottom of the cup. As a former barista, I was quite disgusted with the lack of attention to detail. I have not been back since, and neither has my co-worker who did not like her drink.

My boyfriend and I moved in just down the street from Deluxe coffee, and we went there every morning until we could get our own internet hooked up. We thought the staff was great, they remembered our drink and food orders, brought it all out to our table, and even gave us some helpful hints about the area.

Deluxe is a great establishment. They have always gone out of their way to provide me exactly what I want and they have always been very friendly. I would recommend Deluxe to anyone who is a bit tired of Starbucks, Tullys, etc.
