No :-( Jennifer's review (Sep 13th 2006)

Walnut Street Perk has always been on my secret list of coffee stands to try. Trip after trip to the Sullivan Fred Meyer and I’ve never actually swung in. In fact, every time I think about trying Walnut Street Perk I usually already have a cup of coffee in hand. However, in my ongoing quest for a decent cappuccino east of Hamilton, I pulled into the small purple stand off of Sprague this morning.

And things started well. The place was open a little before 6am. A small bag of Thomas Hammer beans rested by the grinder and the friendly barista regaled me with crazy stories of customers ordering twenty ounce cappuccino. She actually fills the orders, but it takes at least four pitchers of steamed milk to get enough foam. What are people thinking?

Anyhow, all signs pointed to a great cup of coffee. I was ready for it after so many rough cups lately. But, sadly, this cappuccino wasn’t good either. I actually grimaced upon the first sip. The coffee was extremely astringent and bitter. I drank the baby, but it certainly wasn’t smooth.

So I guess I’m still searching for good Spokane Valley coffee.
