Globe is one of those places I expected to be similar to other “Old Spokane Institutions.” Like Clinkerdagger’s. You know. Crap.
As it turned out, I was wrong just this once.
While you don’t get gourmet dining at Globe—nor should you for that matter—you do get tasty and fresh high-end bar food. My buffalo chicken sandwich, for example, was really quite awesome. The true test of any good buffalo sauce is the level of spiciness, and if it masques the flavors or not. No problems here; the sauce definitely had a kick to it, but it never overpowered the actual flavor of the sauce. With a dash of blue cheese dressing, it was a wonderful messy experience.
The accompanying pumpkin wasabi sauce might have been even better. I expected the wasabi to be overpowering, something that thankfully turned out not to be the case. You could taste the wasabi, sure, but it just complemented the pumpkin perfectly. The seeds were a nice touch too.
Globe, then, is good. Excellent in fact. It’s nice to see some old-school Spokane institutions earning their reputation.

The Globe is definitely a bar first and foremost. It is far better now that there is no smoking inside. That being said, the food is incredible. My wife and I are both vegetarian and this is one of the best veg secrets in town. Not only do they have several menu items to choose from, but they will custom prepare just about anything. Highly recommend!

I was very surprised by the food there. It is very tasty.
They have the best cobb salad. Funny I know. Since eating the cobb there I was addicted and becuase I didn’t go back there after awhile I tried the cobb at Twigs, Onion, Safeway, and Wall Street Diner thinking that I could get my fix. It didn’t work. The fresh ingredients and great combination of all the veggies was wonderful. I’ve never felt so passionately about a salad before. The bartender is great too, he’s very aware of what you need/want/desire and is there to help.
Great place.

The Globe is truly a hidden treasure when it comes to Spokane. Every Thursday night they have a special and the kitchen will create a custom dish for each person to fit their wants. Almost every week night they have something different going on in the kitchen. Not to mention they have the best bar food I’ve ever had.
