We’re new to the area and decided to explore Coeur D’Alene over the weekend. So of course we end up at the resort area, and decided to try the Dockside restaurant inside. We were seated at a nice table facing the water (though I think everyone gets a water view there) and proceeded to suffer through both lousy food and service. I had the salad bar (which looked pretty good as we’d passed it on the way to the table) and Spencer got the beer battered halibut and chips. They finally got the bread to us after about 10 minutes and the rolls were nearly inedible. Some type of sourdough with some type of herb that just didn’t pair well together and suffered severe density issues. We’re usually big fans of free bread, but neither of us got past one bite. Spencer also thinks the butter had a sour taste. After another 20 minutes Spence gets his meal and I head off to the salad bar where I see upon closer inspection a lot of really nasty looking pasta dishes and potato salads (yes, plural) that are drowning in sauce. Avoided. So I get the basic salad and some parfait – which was just cheap canned mixed fruit and coconut with whipped topping (bleh!). It was more of a $5 salad bar than a $9 salad bar. Spence has already started eating his fish which he states is just OK, the tiny shoestring fries are totally inappropriate and don’t hold up to the malt vinegar – which he says was their only saving grace. And the service – the waiters and kitchen staff spend most of the time behind the customers loudly talking smack about the food and people, and the $2.75 ice tea I ordered was never once refilled though they came by several times with water. Not to mention the service was beyond slow. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’d be curious to know what others opinions of the food/service are though…
